Yanmar is a Japanese company, founded in 1912 by Magokichi Yamaoka. In 1933 launched its first compact diesel engine, called the “HB Model”. In 1947, Yanmar entered the business of fishing boats by offering two options of marine diesel engines: The LB and the 2LB series. By 1971, Yanmar had put its focus towards sailing yachts, and by 1972, the single-cylinder marine diesel engines Yanmar YSE and Yanmar YSB were available.
